Diane Honeywell began as a white belt in 2009 with her eldest daughter (Catherine Honeywell) and two younger children.
She was introduced to the club through a friend of her daughter’s and has progressed through the belts until earning her Third Dan in 2018. Diane and her family have enjoyed training with Sensei Jason Netherton, Sensei Phil Grote, Sensei Damien Leonard and many other guest instructors over the years.
She has participated in a few competitions in Single Kata and Team Kata (in which her team won bronze). Diane, Catherine and her other two children (all blackbelts) and friend Diba Jedo have moved into running their own club since May 2014 at St Pauls School, Crompton Street, Walkden.
Karate presented itself as the best family-orientated activity for Diane- with the bonus of acting as a weight loss programme, stress-reliever and confidence-builder all in one. Diane has also felt the benefits of a social atmosphere where parents are welcomed and supported alongside the younger students.
