About

Are you looking for an activity for all the family to enjoy?
Karate teaches you etiquette and discipline whilst having fun and keeping fit. It is also great a stress buster.

No contracts! No expensive equipment!
Guaranteed qualified and insured instructors

Established by Sensei Jason Netherton in 2006 the club boasts over 300 students, challenging all ages from 4 upwards.
With dojos across Manchester and Salford in Walkden, Whitefield, Radcliffe(Bury) and Bolton, we run over 20 training sessions through the week so finding a class to suit your schedule is easy.
Jason and his instructors all have full-time professional careers and so do not rely on karate for an income. They all teach solely for the benefit of their students whilst maintaining true credibility as karate should be.
In Jason’s opinion there are too many karate clubs/organisations that lack true instructor values and skills but use karate as a means of income and a business. Not only is this at their students expense it also dilutes true karate traditions.
Jason would like to encourage everyone to give Ippon Karate Academy a try as he ensures true, fair and untainted karate training.
Ippon Karate Academy has gained a high level of respect from its peer clubs around the UK, as it has Regional, National, International and World competition success.
The club has a strong family ethos where all club members support each other, this is complemented with a great social calendar.

Ippon Karate Academy

Following on from his success in creating Hasha International Karate in 2006 where he developed a club to have over 400 members that gained many world and nation titles Sensei Jason Netherton  felt it was time for a new challenge and decided it was time to take his academy along a new and exciting road.

Sensei Jason spent 5 years under the instruction of Sensei George Best where his knowledge and skill of karate expanded greatly. He also gained valuable experience in instruction and developed his confidence to teach people.  Sensei Jason will always be grateful to Sensei George Best for these skills.

Sensei Jason formed Ippon Karate Academy which still teaches traditional Shotokan Karate, and together with his squad of instructors have more than 250 members across the North West running clubs in Bolton, Bury, Radcliffe, Walkden and Worsley.

The Academy also runs four very successful clubs in primary schools in Bolton, helping promote self confidence, discipline and fitness through its teaching of Shotokan Karate. The demand for classes is so high and the clubs are running so successfully that Jason and his team intend to take the Academy into a further 6 schools by the end of the year.

With the skills and commitment of over 35 years of training and numerous championship titles at both local, national and world level any student who trains under Chief Instructor Sensei Jason Netherton & Senior Grading Instructor Sensei John Marsh together with their team of top level instructors Ippon Karate Academy can only prosper.

Champions International Karate Association

Following 4 years of independence, Sensei Jason Netherton decided to give his club and association a new and exciting challenge. In August 2015, the United Karate Great Britain and Ippon Karate Academy became a full member of the Champions International Karate Association.

Founded by Sensei Junior Lefevre, 6th Dan WKF, C.I.K.A. is a fast growing, worldwide, non-political organization based on friendship and the true values of Karate-Do.

”The C.I.K.A. is an association for groups, clubs and individuals. As an association, we endeavor to form a circle of friendships to promote the understanding and technical enhancement of karate. We believe that karate is a martial science and a way of life that trains the practitioner to be peaceful.” –C.I.K.A. World Karate
