Christina Kavakopoulou started her journey in karate at the age of 6, in Athens ,Greece .
At this age she was also practicing ballet . She claims that ballet helped her with her coordination of the body which is critical for karate practitioners. After one year she stopped ballet and focused in Karate because she thought she was the warrior princess Xena.
Christina has been a Greek champion since she was 10 years old and at the age of 12 she earned her first medal outside Greece. Christina is an active member of the Greek National Karate team in both kata and kumite. She was a Balkan champion for many years and Mediterranean champion in U21 kata.
After the age of 21 Christina decided to specialise in kumite. In her first year, she took 5th place at the European Championship in Finland 2014 and almost reached the finals at the World Championship in Bremen. The following year she got close to the finals with the female kumite team at the European and World Championship. Christina is also a European and World S.K.I.F. Champion in kata and kumite.
Christina is now studying Physical Education at college and she specializes at Adapted Physical Activity. She is an accredited karate instructor 3rd Dan and has experience coaching and training from several karate clubs in Athens.
